Remembering Michael On June 25, 2014

Reflecting back to June 25, 2009: I could not believe what I was hearing on the news: that Michael Jackson was dead. Just like many fans all over the world, I was devastated and cried incessantly. How could this be? No, not Michael Jackson!! I felt like I was in a trance. This was not registering in my mind.

mj forever“And my goal in life is to give to the world what I was lucky to receive: the ecstasy of divine union through my music and my dance.”

Here is the text of a post I made in one of the forums at MichaelJackson.com back on July 27, 2009. I downloaded the post to my hard drive (as I did for many posts I made in the forums on MJ.com). I was glad to see that the link still works when I clicked on it today.

Re: The day the world stood still! To the ones who loved him and the one’s who hated him

I was on my way home from taking my granddaughter to Vacation Bible school and I heard a local radio DJ say that this was the hardest thing for him to say, that Michael Jackson was dead. I could not believe my ears. I kept saying, WHAT? Are you serious! I immediately called my sister and she said that she was watching it on CNN. It’s like time stood still literally. I just could not wrap my mind around this. I think I was in a state of shock, and still am actually. When I got home I turned on the TV and began flipping to all the news channels and the Internet.

OMG, I thought I was going to hyperventilate. It seemed so surreal that MICHAEL JACKSON was dead. His name did not belong in the same sentence with the word “death.” I will never forget that day as long as I live, nor will I forget the pain I felt at that very moment. I miss him so very much. It’s like Michael is another part of me, and I am feeling very lonely at times.

I am glad for this site so I can share my thoughts and feelings with others who love Michael Jackson. We are not alone; we have each other. As Michael sang in one of his songs when he was a young boy: “Where there is love, I’ll be there.” He is with us in our hearts and through his music.

A lot has happened in the intervening years since we lost our dear Michael, but my focus for this post is to honor his memory. Today, I went back and visited the MichaelJackson.com site. I have not been there in a while. I read over the forum posts that I have downloaded. I looked at the 1,000+ pictures that have of MJ. I viewed my two YouTube tributes that I made for Michael (see them at the bottom of this post). I pulled out a lot my MJ memorabilia that I have and looked through the many magazines and books. I cried as I held my movie ticket stub from “This Is It” and my ticket stub from the “Immortal” show in Vegas.

In these past few days, I have been on my personal trip back down memory lane with Michel. I have been a Michael Jackson fan ever since the song “Big Boy” was released back in 1968. I purchased roses in his memory via the One Rose for Michael J. Jackson Facebook group. I have written another poem for Michael in remembrance as we come upon the five-year point.

That fateful day in June 2009 totally rocked my world to an unbelievable magnitude. I think of MJ often and I pray for his children. My how they have grown up. I can still recall the sweet message that Paris shared with the world at her daddy’s memorial service: “Ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine, and I just want to say that I love him so much.”

Michael Jackson Collage“Let us dream of tomorrow where we can truly love from the soul, and know love as the ultimate truth at the heart of all creation.”

NOTE: I created and submitted this collage to the MJ.com site. I was so excited when it was accepted to be included in the fan photos section of the site!!

My Tribute Poem to Michael on The 5th Anniversary of His Passing

It has been five years now since that sad, sad day in June,
When we learned that our dear Michael, had left us far too soon.
We were devastated and tearful, not knowing what to do,
Our hearts were hoping against all odds, that this news would not be true.

June twenty-fifth two thousand and nine,
Will forever be emblazoned in our hearts and in our minds.
We miss you so much, Michael, your spirit fills our hearts,
We’ll hold on to your tender promise that we will never part.

As we prepare our tributes, for this fifth anniversary,
MJ, our hearts are bound in love, to honor your memory.
Your legacy is eternal, in all its splendor and grace,
In L.O.V.E. we come together for you, in a unified embrace.

All for L.O.V.E. ~ All for Michael ~ Sincerely, Essence54

I’ll Be There – Instrumental
I will have to say that this classic Jackson 5 song is near and dear to my heart. That is why I chose this song as the background for my first-ever tribute video to Michael. I love to just close my eyes and listen to his sweet voice singing, “Just call my name, and I’ll be there.” I believe he is there…in my heart forevermore.

Because You Loved Me
This is my second video tribute to Michael. He always told us that he loved us. And we LOVED him back. That is why I think that this song reflects the mutual love and respect that we shared with Michael. He spoke up for justice, he championed the causes of children all over the world, he encouraged us to keep the faith, heal the world, take a look in the mirror, and make that change. Because he loved us! I MJ
